Amy grew up in cow-loving country near Shepparton in Victoria. She completed her Optometry degree at the University of Melbourne in 2012 and moved to Traralgon at the start of 2013. You can find Amy working at Kay Street Eye Care, indulging in local produce, playing squash or pretending to be useful at trivia.

Vice President- Jess Lyons
Jess is a Lawyer who is originally from the Latrobe Valley. Jess moved to Melbourne to complete her studies and to train with the Australian development squad for badminton. Jess has now returned to the Valley, but that next trip away is always on her mind! Jess joined the LYP and found it a great way to meet people and experience parts of the Valley that she had never seen before. Jess enjoys playing and coaching badminton, travelling, playing guitar and trying new restaurants and bars, particularly in the Gippsland region.
Secretary- Mardi Salienko
Mardi has always called the Latrobe Valley home. After finishing at Monash University in Churchill, she started working as an Accountant at RGM Accountants & Advisors and completed the CPA program. Through the LYP Mardi has enjoyed meeting new people and exploring parts of Gippsland she had yet to discover. Mardi has had some great adventures overseas and is always thinking about the next trip. She enjoys cooking, football, pilates, going to the gym and home renos.
Vice Secretary- Kieta van der Meulen
Kieta is a Lawyer who grew up in the Latrobe Valley. Having lived in Melbourne and travelled extensively, she returned to call the Valley home in 2009. Kieta has gained a real sense of community through friendships made through LYP. Having worked in the region for 5 years, Kieta has made the decision to take on a new challenge as an in-house Employment/Industrial Relations Lawyer in West Melbourne. She will however manintain her strong ties to the region and the LYP. Some of Kieta's hobbies and interests include travel, yoga and watching Broadway musicals.
Treasurer- Sahan Kumarasinghe
Sahan is an Asset Management Engineer at Australian Paper. He moved to the Latrobe Valley from Melbourne in 2011 and joined LYP a couple of months later. He enjoys attending LYP events as it's a great way to meet new people, and has made some great new friends in the process. Sahan decided to become a commitee member in 2013 to get more involved in the organisation of events run by the LYP. He enjoys hitting the slopes during winter and bike riding during the summer, so please don't run over him if you see him pedaling by! Sahan also enjoys the occasional beverage and dance at any of the fine local establishments in Traralgon.
Committee Member- Karen Stone
Karen moved to the Latrobe Valley from Sydney to work as a Radiation Therapist at Latrobe Regional Hospital. She enjoys a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, meeting people and is willing to try most things at least once. Karen has travelled a lot but would like to travel more, as she enjoys learning about different cultures and food.
Committee Member- Nicole McDonald
Nicole joined the LYP when she moved to the Latrobe Valley from Melbourne in 2011. Nicole works as an Audiologist at Gippsland Audiology Services and has found the LYP a great way of making new friends. Since moving to the area, Nicole has enjoyed exploring Gippsland's natural attractions and the region's great food and wine.
Committee Member- Gemma Lay
Gemma moved to Traralgon in 2009 after graduating from university and is currently working at Latrobe Regional Hospital as a Clinical Pharmacist. She joined the commitee in 2011 (when she finally found some free time after completing her pharmacy internship and Graduate Certificate) and has spent time as Secretary and President of the group. When she's not busy with work (her job requires weekend on-call work) or the LYP, you'll probably find her baking, reading, enjoying a cup of tea from her extensive collection or lifting/punching/sweating it out at the gym.
Committee Member- Tim Piper
Tim is an Engineering graduate at Australian Paper. Being new to the Latrobe Valley he has found the LYP to be a great way to meet new people. Through the LYP he has made some awesome friends, who make his life outside work very enjoyable. Tim's hobbies include working on cool projects, meeting new people and eating great food. As a commitee member, Tim would like to foster a group of individuals who assist each other to excel.
Committee Member- Tia van der Meulen
Tia has strong Latrobe Valley roots and loves all that the region has to offer, including its diverse natural beauty and great community spirit. Tia enjoys taking on new challenges and this is reflected in her varied career history- including a Truck Driver in the mines, and Emergency Services and Fire Rescue Officer at Yallourn "W" Power station and currently as a Legal Assistant. Tia has previously volunteered with the CFA and was involved in the Black Saturday firefighting efforts. She joined the LYP in 2014 and enjoys the social connections.
Committee Member- Sarah Taylor
Sarah was born and raised in Rosedale, and recently moved to Traralgon. She went to Sale Catholic College, and studied a Bachelor of Social and Community Welfare at Monash University, Churchill. Sarah has been an Aged Care Case Manager at Villa Maria for five years, and loves her job. She is passionate about networking and socialising with other young professionals, and since attending her first event in November 2014, has found LYP a great place to do that.
