About the Latrobe Young Professionals Minimize

The Latrobe Young Professionals run regular events for it's members and anyone else interested in coming along.  Our events help people meet other young professionals and to have fun!  We also run events aimed at personal development opportunities.  Our financial members receive a membership card and discounts off the cost of attending events.  We are in the process of arranging more benefits for members.

Although we mainly run events, we are also keen to arrange anything that will help young professionals.  We have created this website as a starting point for creating online services for our members.  We also have a facebook group, so look us up and join in.

Our committee meets every month to discuss event planning and other initiatives for young professionals in the Latrobe Valley.  We are always happy to hear suggestions and feedback from anyone keen on helping us out. Details of all our events including our monthly committee meetings can be found on the home page of this website.

 Background Minimize

The formation of the Latrobe Young Professional Group is a result of an initiative of the Latrobefirst project in collaboration with local organisations and businesses. The aim being to implement a recognised retention strategy for young professionals in rural areas, which involves ensuring they are connected to and involved in the local community.

In March 2007 a steering committee was formed with assistance from employers including Latrobe Regional Hospital, Latrobe Community Health Services Inc., Gippsland Dental Group, Loy Yang Power, GHD, i-Gain, Gippsland Water and Latrobe City. The steering committee developed the platform for the group and in May 2007 elected office bearers, became an incorporated body and commenced planning for the official launch of the group.

The group hopes to attract members between the ages of 18 to 40, although we are open to everyone. Whilst the term professional appears on the title, we welcome anyone who is an aspiring leader regardless of qualifications.
